Modifications and corresponding changes in charge distributions at the dimeric interface (in a dashed rectangle) are highlighted (in solid circles). Negative electrostatic potential is depicted in red, positive in blue. Atom coordinates of the 14-3-3ζ were adopted from Kostelecky et al. (2009) and Nagy et al. (2017). The desired residues were mutated in silico and their conformations were selected from a library of possible conformers. Mutagenesis and generation of the electrostatic potential maps with Coulombic surface coloring were performed in UCSF Chimera (Pettersen et al., 2004).
