Genome organization, virion structure, and overview of protein-level mutations in SARS-CoV-2 strains. (a) Genomic organization of SARS-CoV-2. ORF1a and ORF1b encode 16 nonstructural proteins (NSP1–NSP16). NSP3 and NSP5 (ORF1a) encode the papain-like protease and 3CL-protease, respectively. NSP12 encodes RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) and NSP13 encodes RNA helicase (ORF1b).
