Effects of LAS194046 and fluticasone propionate on human neutrophil superoxide anion formation. Concentration-dependent inhibition of N-Formylmethionyl-leucyl-phenylalanine (fMLP)-induced superoxide anion formation by LAS194046 and fluticasone propionate from peripheral blood neutrophils of (A) COPD and (B) severe asthma patients. Neutrophils were pre-incubated with LAS194046 or fluticasone propionate during 30 min followed by cell stimulation with fMLP (1 µM) for up to 45 min. The results are expressed as luminescence values [arbitrary units (AU)] and as area under curve generated by luminescence time-curse data as the mean ± SD (n = 3 each for cells from COPD patients in independent experiments with triplicate samples). A two-way ANOVA was followed by a post hoc Bonferroni test. *p < 0.05 vs. control; #p < 0.05 vs. fluticasone propionate.
