Proteoglycans regulate leucocyte recruitment. (A) Proteoglycans are composed of a protein core, depicted here embedded in a cell membrane as is the case with the syndecan family. Proteoglycans have glycosaminoglycan (GAG) side chains that can bind to a number of proteins, for example chemokines.
