The mechanisms of Regulatory T cells (Tregs) in sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE). Several studies evidence the mechanisms by which Tregs may affect different processes know to be related with SAE pathophysiology. The latter include suppression of systemic immune-inflammation/cytokine storm, resolution of excessive neuroinflammation and ischemic processes/injury, regulate the imbalance of neurotransmitters and regulation of glial cells and cerebral endothelial cells (CECs) activity.
