Organization of thylakoid pigment–protein complexes. Photosynthetic complexes from WT, ΔLhca, and Stn7ΔLhca were separated by nondenaturing Blue native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (BN–PAGE) following solubilization of membranes with 0.1% α-DM + 0.5% digitonin. The composition of major green bands is indicated based on earlier work (Jarvi et al., 2011). St, State, C₂S₂M₂, dimeric PSII core, with two strongly (S) bound LHCII and two moderately (M) bound LHCII complexes, C₂S₂M, C₂S₂, C₂S₂M, C₂S, and C₂M accordingly.
