Effect of HMR 3004 on superoxide anion production by PMN. PMN were pretreated with HMR 3004 or control buffer for 5 or 30 min before stimulation with FMLP plus cytochalasin B or PMA. Results are expressed as percent control response (initial rate) (means of 3 to 11 experiments. For HMR 3004 ≥ 10 μg/ml (5 min) and ≥ 2.5 μg/ml (30 min), the P value was <0.05 for all data. Control responses for superoxide anion production (nanomoles/10⁶ PMN/min) were as follows: FMLP at 5 min, 8 ± 0.4, and at 30 min, 4 ± 0.5; and PMA at 5 min, 4 ± 0.3, and at 30 min, 2 ± 0.1.
