Representative 3D micro-computed tomography images of the nitrided iron scaffold after implantation in the porcine coronary artery. (A) at 0 days, the scaffold showed integrity; (B) at 4.5 years, most of the struts were incomplete, indicating that the scaffold had been partially corroded; and (C) at 7 years, only a small quantity of struts were observed, indicating the scaffold had been almost completely corroded.
