Treatment with apelin-13 led to down-regulation of the ACE/AT1R axis and up-regulation of ACE2 expression in LPS-treated macrophages. (A) BMDMs were treated with apelin-13 (1 umol/L) for 1 h before stimulation with LPS (1 ug/mL) for 6 h. The mRNA levels of ACE, AT1R, ACE2 and MAS were determined by real-time PCR. (B) Protein levels of ACE, AT1R, ACE2 and MAS were determined by Western blot analysis. Data were expressed as mean ± SD. *P<0.05 versus control group, ^#P<0.05 versus the LPS treatment group (n=3).
