16S rRNA sequencing was used to determine species richness (based on relative abundance) for control and treated samples with Na₂SO₃ (A) and NaHSO₃ (B). A paired t-test showed that species richness increased significantly after treatment with NaHSO₃ and was marginally significant after treatment with Na₂SO₃.
