Proposed model depicting the mechanism of lung cancer progression involving the selective sorting of hY4F into EVs and regulation by methylated YBX1. The selective sorting of tumor suppressor hY4F into lung cancer EVs is regulated by interaction with RNA-binding protein YBX1. The methylation of YBX1 by the methyltransferase SETD3 affects its binding to hY4F and the subsequent secretion of hY4F into EVs, which play a role in the proliferation, migration and invasion of lung cancer cells through hY4F/MAPK/NF- κB signaling axis.
