Left panel: Change in time spent at home (“immobility index”) per month, using the 5-week period from January 3 to February 6, 2020 as the baseline in 18 countries in Latin America (not including Cuba). Note that the greatest immobility occurred in April 2020 in most countries, in concordance with the abrupt drop in cardiac diagnostic procedures. On the other hand, the number of new COVID-19 cases per million people was still progressively rising from March to July 2020 in most countries.
