Heatmap of markers of direct and indirect SARS-CoV-2-associated myocardial injury COVID-19-positive patients.

The relative intensity of the indicated markers stained via immunohistochemistry and quantified using computer-aided image analysis. All values were normalized to the average signal intensity of clinically matched controls. Red indicates higher expression; blue indicates lower than normal expression. COVID-19 patients were arranged based on quantification of SARS-CoV-2 from lowest to highest signal. Average signal quantification for each protein marker is shown at the bottom of each column. The heatmap is divided into direct viral injury and indirect injury (i.e., thrombosis or markers of inflammation).
