The resulting fusion transcript is composed of GLI1 exon 10 fused to exon 2 of FOXO4. The protein domains of the participating genes are also displayed. From the FOXO4 partner, only a truncated portion of the Forkhead box domain is retained in the fusion, while the transactivation domain is preserved. In contrast, GLI1 retains the DNA binding domains, but not the transactivation domain in the projected fusion oncoprotein21.
