(A,B) Wildtype (WT) and MT-1 and -2 gene knockout (MT-KO) mice were treated with sterile saline (Cont) or PPE (10 U/kg) only once, on day 0. Sections of pulmonary tissue were prepared 72 h after PPE administration. (A) Sections were subjected to terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase biotin-dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assay and 4,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) staining (scale bar, 100 µm).
