The experimental protocol for HDM sensitization and SO₂ exposure. Mice in the AR group, AR-SO₂-day15 group and AR-SO₂-day1 group were intranasally sensitized with HDM challenge. In addition, SO₂ exposure was initiated beginning on day 15 and day 1 in the AR-SO₂-day15 group and AR-SO₂-day1 group, respectively. The NS control group and SO₂-treated control group were challenged with normal saline instead of HDM, while the SO₂-treated control group was also exposed to SO₂ beginning on day 1.
