The thickness of the plot represents the kernal density estimation to show the distribution shape of the data. The three lines represent the median and lower (25%) and upper (75%) quartiles based on density estimates. Wider sections of the plot represent a higher probability that guidelines will take on the given value; the slimmer sections represent a lower probability.
