OMV-assisted iron uptake in A. baumannii DS002. Lane 1 indicates the amount of ⁵⁵Fe-Ent bound to OMVs. After incubating with OMVs associated with ⁵⁵Fe-Ent, the cells were collected and washed with lithium chloride to remove surface-associated ⁵⁵Fe-Ent. The unbound and cell surface-associated ⁵⁵Fe-Ent are shown in lanes 2 and 3, respectively. Lane 4 shows ⁵⁵Fe present inside the cells after washing with lithium chloride.
