Schematic of the hybrid confocal Raman endomicroscopic system. The system comprises an integrated 488 nm confocal microscope for morphological imaging and a NIR Raman module for molecular characterization. Using a custom circular to linear fiber bundle with a deactivated central fiber for spectrometer coupling we reduce the directly scattered silica Raman signal originating from the central part of the coherent fiber bundle.
