N-glycan types and the system of symbols used in this study for glycans. N-glycans can be grouped into high mannose, hybrid, and complex types. Complex glycans can have up to 4 branches. The glycans were named following the Oxford Notation: antenna (A), bisecting N-acetylglucosamine (B), fucose (F), mannose (M), galactose (G), and N-acetylneuraminic acid (S).19 The glycan structures were depicted following the Consortium for Functional Glycomics (CFG) notation.20
