  1. In order to validate the modeling and test its predictive power, we repeated the competition experiments between Aci2 and Pa across a 54‐condition grid of resource supply ratios and dilution factors (Materials and Methods). Shown is the fraction Pa on Days 1, 3, 5, and 7 for eight total replicates of each condition (two biological replicates, each with four technical replicates started at different initial species fractions; Materials and Methods).
  2. We used the model to predict steady‐state population fractions for each condition.
  3. We calculated mean final population fractions from the experimental data and compared these fractions to the model predictions.
