Myeloid cells in the MBH are activated by HFD, which affects hypothalamic neuronal activity to regulate energy homeostasis. Myeloid cells in the MBH are exposed to the systemic circulation and are thus positioned to sense and respond to circulating factors. Diet-induced obesity (DIO) is characterized by changes in nutritional signals, inflammatory cytokines, metabolic hormones, and microbiome-derived molecules, which may modulate MBH microglial function.
