Phylogenetic tree of streptococcal CEPs. ConSurf analysis generated a scored list of related sequences for SpyCEP (5XYR), ScpA (3EIF), and ScpB (1XF1) [22, 87]. The 15 most related sequences were taken, with duplicates removed, for each protein and a phylogenetic tree generated using Clustal Omega [85]. Phylogenetic data were visualized using the Interactive Tree Of Life [88]. Sequences were blasted and denoted ScpA (grey shading) or ScpC (green shading) like owing to their homology (>50%) with C5 peptidase (ScpA) or SpyCEP (ScpC), respectively.
