The protein reactive species generated upon bioactivation modify several proteins including the essential 26 S proteasome subunit PSMD2, thereby triggering Ub-proteasome system (UPS) inhibition, ER-stress, activation of the Unfolded Protein Response (UPR) and cell death mediated by apoptosis.
