FIGURE 1

Cartoon depicting two forms of force generated by the micro-pipette-guided ultrasound. The device consists of a glass pipette and a piezoelectric transducer that functions as an ultrasound probe. The closed-ended micro-pipette will generate two relevant stimuli at the cellular level: acoustic streaming on the apical side of the cell and ultrasound propagation throughout the cell. The acoustic streaming functions as the pulling force, and the ultrasound gives the cell the compression force that may induce cytoskeletal rearrangement. Modified with permission from Lim et al. (2021) and Chu et al. (2021).
