Poor Moderate Good
10 or 14 dpi Minimal/no cartilage, and if cartilage does exist, it is located near cut ends and does not fill resection gap Moderate cartilage production, incomplete bridging, appears unclear if injury will fully heal at extended time points Substantial and thick cartilage production bridging the injury site
28 dpi Little bone production. Injured bone end remains very disconnected Moderate bone production. Some cartilage may still be present. Cuts end are not completely bridged, but appears full thickness healing is still possible Injury site fully connected with thick newly generate bone

A rubric was used to define healing as Poor, Moderate, or Good.
