‐ Physical characteristics of the atelocollagen patch and embedded drug–releasing profile in vitro. A, The external morphology of local drug delivery system has white‐colored atelocollagen‐based disc‐like structure. The size of an individual atelocollagen disc is 1 cm in diameter and 1 mm in depth (B, C). The microstructure of the disc by the scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It has variable‐sized microporous structures, which might be appropriate for embedding nucleolin‐aptamer–conjugated gemcitabine (D). The 265‐nm UV absorbance and serially diluted gemcitabine showed a linear correlation with statistical significance (E, F). Most of the nucleolin‐aptamer–conjugated gemcitabine was released within 1 day, and continuous drug release was observed for up to 28 days
