The effect of nicotine on the total distance moved (TDM) by low locomotor activity (LLA) and high locomotor activity (HLA) adolescent rats. Animals (n=52) were classified as LLA or HLA as in Fig. 1, received injections of either saline or nicotine, and behavior was assessed as in Fig. 2. Changes in activity during the first 5 min following nicotine administration are expressed relative to drug naïve activity in the novel open field [(Trial Activity – Initial Activity)/ Initial Activity].
