The cumulative risk was estimated via Aalen-Johansen method, with the first episode of ICU-acquired BSI as the event of interest and death in ICU and discharge from the ICU as competing events. Right censoring was defined as a persistent ICU stay of 30 days after the time of origin which was defined as 48 h after ICU admission.
