The effect of sortilin on apo(a) secretion is dependent on its carboxyl-terminal sorting motifs. HepG2 cells stably transfected with a 17-kringle form of apo(a) were transiently transfected with expression vectors encoding sortilin variants or the corresponding empty vector (pcDNA). The cells were subjected to a pulse-chase protocol followed by immunoprecipitation of medium and lysate samples using an anti-apo(a) antibody.
