The main compartments of Warburg flasks contained, in a volume of 2.0 ml, 450 μmol of sodium-potassium phosphate buffer (pH 7.2), 1.26 mg of 48,000-×-g supernatant, and CHAM. The center well contained 0.1 ml of 20% (wt/vol) KOH. Manometers were equilibrated at 30°C, and reactions were started by adding proteins from the side arms. The level of catalase activity in the 48,000-×-g supernatant was 3.18 U/mg. The data are averages of the data from three different experiments.
