Each reaction mixture contained, in a volume of 1.0 ml, 450 μmol of sodium-potassium phosphate buffer (pH 7.2) and 1.26 mg of 48,000-×-g supernatant. Reactions at 30°C were started by adding limited amounts of CHAM. The CHnone concentrations were determined by HPLC. The NH3 concentrations were determined by the method of Fawcett and Scott (5). The data are averages of the data from three different experiments.
