I-VII refer to key events related to COVID-19 progression during the nationwide wave in China (Fig. 2a). Three maps ($PRP{{I_i}_q}_{\left(t\right)}$) use the same posterior space–time-coefficients (STCs) fitted by the extended Bayesian STIVC model with the TSH-type spatiotemporal interaction. A uniform standard is adopted for the color stratification of mapping.
