CH₃I formation from CH₃Cl and I⁻ by dialyzed cell extracts of strain CC495. Dialyzed extracts were incubated at 25°C with 3 mM I⁻, 0.5 mM DTT, and 0.5 mM CH₃Cl in 50 mM phosphate buffer (pH 7.8). CH₃I formation was determined by gas chromatography.
