Extended Data Table 1 ∣. Equilibrium dissociation constants (Kd) of MII-(AB)2 complexes.

Metal-competition assays were performed using Fura-2 in Chelex100-treated buffer solution (pH 7.4) containing 20 mM MOPS and 150 mM NaCl. Kd values in 20 mM NH4HCO3 were determined using Mag-Fura-2 (CoII and NiII) and Newport Green DCF (CuII) as metal-binding competitor. Errors are derived from non-linear least square fitting analyzed in Dynafit.
