Proportion of visibly wilted leaves of the plants grown at eight substrate volumetric water content treatments (θt) during the experiment. Plants were rated on a scale of 1–5, where 1 = over 65% of the leaves wilted; 2 = 35–65% of the leaves wilted; 3 = up to 35% of the leaves wilted; 4 = less than 10% of the leaves wilted; 5 = plant was fully turgid (Zollinger et al., 2006).
