Table 1.

The correlation between selected caspases concentration and the Glasgow Coma Score (GCS).

Scoring system Caspase concentration in 7th day after TBI Spearman correlation test
R p =
Glasgow Coma Score Caspase-3 −0.81 0.0001
Caspase-6 −0.72 0.0014
Caspase-8 −0.65 0.0061
Caspase-9 −0.52 0.0402

Spearman's rank correlation was computed to assess the relationship between GCS and selected caspases concentration. There was negative correlation between caspase 3 (r (14) = −0.81, p = 0.0001), caspase 6 (r (14) = −0.72, p = 0.0014), caspase 8 (r (14) = −0.0.65, p = 0.0061) and caspase 9 (r (14) = −0.52, p = 0.0402) and the Glasgow Coma Score. BALF, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid; TBI, traumatic brain injury.
