Rg3 decreases oxidative stress and Fe2+ production in mice with AP. RT-qPCR analysis revealed that Rg3 treatment significantly reduced (A) TNFα, (B) IL-6 and (C) IL-1β mRNA levels in mice with AP. (D) The AP-induced increase in the hs-CRP content was significantly reversed by high and low doses of Rg3. Rg3 treatment reduced the (E) MDA, (F) ROS and (G) Fe2+ levels in the pancreatic tissues of mice with AP. (H) The AP-induced reduction in GSH levels was markedly increased following Rg3 treatment in mice with AP. ***P<0.001 compared with the Con group; ##P<0.01 and ###P<0.001 compared with the AP group. AP, acute pancreatitis; RT-qPCR, reverse transcription-quantitative; hs-CRP, high sensitivity C-reactive protein; MDA, malondialdehyde; ROS, reactive oxygen species; Fe2+, ferrous ion; GSH, glutathione; Con, control; L-Rg3, low-dose Rg3 (20 mg/kg); H-Rg3, high-dose Rg3 (40 mg/kg).
