Southern blot analysis of A. kawachii genomic DNA. Genomic DNA was digested with BamHI (lane 1), EcoRI (lane 2), or HindIII (lane 3). Hybridization was performed overnight at 65°C by using a ³²P-labeled SalI-SalI fragment of genomic bglA as a probe, and the membrane was washed three times for 30 min in 2× SSC–1% SDS at 65°C (1× SSC is 0.15 M NaCl plus 0.015 M sodium citrate).
