All samples were taken from tissue adjacent to the midrib of the third leaf from the apical meristem, and 2 cm from the petiole. In all cases, the images shown for each genotype are representative of other biological replicates. Fluorescence signals indicating glandular trichomes were counted from each tissue sample (n = 3).
