Fig. 1 — Representative images of nerve segmentation. The tibial portion of the sciatic nerve was first delineated on T2-weighted (T2w) images providing excellent anatomical contrast. Hereafter, the region of interest was transferred onto magnetization transfer (MT) images with (MT on) and without (MT off) an off-resonance saturation pulse and manually corrected for distortion and chemical shift artifacts. Finally, the MT ratio (MTR) was calculated. Representative regions of interest for muscle MTR calculation are illustrated with dashed lines
