A schematic abstract depicting a summary of the study design and results. Sprague–Dawley rats undergoing the CLP procedure developed sepsis and AKI. PNP significantly reduced renal injury to a lesser degree accompanied with reduced BUN/Cre levels, thereby indicating improved kidney function. PNP primarily exerted its protective effects against kidney injury by inhibiting the inflammatory cytokine production and NF-κB expression. Ultimately, PNP improved the survival rate of septic rats, thus displaying its potential as a therapeutic agent in sepsis-induced AKI.
