The THz EO signals obtained by rotating the HWP

(A) Typical THz EO-signal components Sx(t) and Sy(t) along the x- and y axes were measured at various pump polarization state via rotating the HWP, characterized by the angle ϕ, which stands for the linear-polarization state with respect to the y-polarized light (ϕ = 0°). (For clarity, the error bars are not shown here, which is about 4×10−7).

(B) The peak value of Sx(t) and Sy (t) (at t=0 ps) as functions of ϕ, respectively. The red solid curves show the fitting based on Equations (1) and (2).

(C) The azimuthal angle-dependent (Ψ-dependent) amplitude of emitted THz waves with linearly polarized pump pulses. The red solid curves show the fitted results. The error bars in B and C are the standard deviation of the experimental data.
