Schematic representation of the prime editing tool. The editing system is attached to complementary target DNA by pegRNA, after which nCas9 produces a nick in the 3ʹ-5ʹ strand. Subsequently, reverse transcriptase uses the cut strand as a primer to synthesize the new edited strand from the pegRNA template.
