Cox proportional hazards analysis was performed for both the proteins associated with baseline VO2max and those associated with VO2max and all-cause mortality, adjusting for age, sex and batch. Proteins from each analysis that were statistically significant (FDR q < 0.1) were brought forwards in stepwise regression. The percent variation in all-cause mortality beyond age and sex is listed in the final column for those proteins retained in the final model.
Aptamer specificity supported by pQTLs and/or MS-based proteomics in population-based data (Supplementary Table 15).
Aptamer targets available for comparison on Olink Explore platform in HERITAGE subset (n = 88).
Proteins with Spearman correlation > 0.4 on aptamer and antibody-based platforms in HERITAGE subset.
