For the healthy controls, blood sampling and testing were performed on the same day, about 4 years after inclusion of the first stroke patient. (b) Timeline for the plasma samples from stroke patients and healthy controls. The samples were kept at room temperature before centrifugation at +4 °C, and again during pipetting (black). The plasma samples where then kept at -80 °C (grey). During transportation from the biobank to the local lab, the samples were kept on dry ice (dark grey).
