Figure 2

Proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1HNMR) spectrum of alginate and synthesized oxidized alginate further confirmed the successful synthesis of oxidized alginate. The appearance of new peaks at 4.2, 5.3, and 5.6 in the spectrum of the oxidized alginate that are absents in the spectrum of alginate are attributed to the oxidation of alginate.
