(Left) CSF, shown in blue or brown, is produced at the choroid plexus lining the ventricles (red) and flows around the surface of the brain or spinal cord, and is absorbed into the venous blood of the superior sagittal sinus at the arachnoid villi. The septum pellucidum separates the 2 lateral ventricles into separate compartments. The cisterna magna is at the base of the cerebellum next to the brain stem.
