Analysis of inflammatory response in the lungs. Eight-week-old K18-hACE2 mice were inoculated intranasally with PBS (mock) or 104 PFU of SARS-CoV-2 or variants (n = 5–7 mice per group). Lungs and brain were harvested after extensive perfusion with PBS and RNA was extracted. The mRNA levels of (A) IL-6 and (B) CCL-2 were determined by qRT-PCR.
