Extrinsic and intrinsic factors contribute to distinct metabolic signatures in T2D among ethnic groups. External elements such as diet and lifestyle modifications influence the metabolome in the T2D. Heterogeneity in the prevalence of T2D across various ethnic groups are also due to socio-economic status and the availability of health infrastructure. Besides, intrinsic factors such as genetic makeup and epigenetic modifications also influence biomolecule metabolism leading to diversity in the metabolite patterns among various ethnic groups in the context of T2D.
